The Yankee Stadium was a Baseball Stadion in south of the Bronx, the northernmost borough of New York City in the U.S. state of New York. It was located on 161st Street and was the home venue of the New York Yankees baseball team.
The first game took place on April 18, 1923 (Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox 4:1), the last one on September 21, 2008 (Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 7:3). After that, Yankees games were played in the new Yankee Stadium, which was built next to the old venue and its exterior is very similar to it. It was inaugurated on April 16, 2009.
From March 2009 to May 2010, demolition of the venue took place and a green space called Heritage Field was created on the site.
Most recently, the stadium held 57,545 spectators.
